Frequently Asked Questions
1.Can I really learn to plaster even if I have no previous experience?
Anyone can learn how to plaster. It is a skill, and any skill can be taught to someone who wants to learn. So YES anyone can learn to plaster. Sometimes it is better to have no experience at all as you have no bad habits to correct. Our Instructor has a wealth of knowledge and experience and a limitless supply of patience! Don’t be put off by people who tell you that you can’t!
2. Do I need to bring my own tools?
No, we supply all the tools you will need to learn and even have tools available to purchase if you wish.
3. I am / will be undertaking a specific project at the moment- can you tailor the course to suit my needs?
Let us know in advance about the project you have in mind. We will always do our best to make sure your course is structured towards this
4. I would not be able to travel back and forth every day. Do you have a list of places that I can stay?
We will be happy to supply you with a list of bed and breakfast establishments which are local.
5. Can I teach myself to plaster? I have seen videos online that claim I can learn from watching them?
The internet has a wealth of informative videos that show you how to do various things. The reality is that although you are watching them – they are not watching you! They cannot correct you when things don’t go as planned! They can’t stop you when you are doing things incorrectly. This is when you may pick up bad habits which will not give you the skills you hoped for.
6. I am concerned about Coronavirus. What are you doing to keep me safe?
We have hand sanitising station as soon as you enter the premises .Directly adjacent to the sanitiser are masks and gloves for you to put on. There are soaps and sanitiser in the kitchen and bathroom areas. We use disposable paper towels in all areas to avoid people sharing a towel. Our plastering bays are enclosed on three sides so you will not come in to contact with anyone else. Our premises are large so there is ample room to socially distance whilst having breaks. At present we are only taking one student (or 2 from the same household) at a time so you will only come into contact with the instructor. In May we will begin taking two students at a time ( as long as coming out of lockdown continues as we all hope!) – all safety protocols will remain in place.
7. Is there parking at the premises?
Yes there is ample free parking available
8. What clothing do I need to bring with me?
We suggest you wear old clothes or bring overalls with you. You will probably end up getting plaster over you, though not always!
9. Are there any other fees I need to pay or be aware of?
No we are very transparent with our charging – you simply pay the price stated on the website.
10. What if I need to cancel or rearrange my course?
Just give us a call – we don’t bite!
